A springboard for leaders
Verdier Class 40 – ready to race
A fast, honest Class 40 tells the truth. This Verdier-designed boat was rebuilt from the skin out, the hull re-faired and strengthened, the keel removed, checked, and re-bedded with new bolts. It’s set up to be pushed offshore and to give clear feedback when technique slips.
Rebuilt for reliable speed
Hull & structure
Built for reliable pace and honest feedback when you’re pushing offshore racing sailing.
- Fully rebuilt and optimised in 2021–2022
- Hull stripped back, re-faired, strengthened and repainted
- Keel removed, ultrasounded, re-bedded with new bolts
Carbon rig that delivers
Rig & sail plan
All-new carbon rig and rigging (approx. +1.5 m), longer boom, new fixed carbon prod/bowsprit, reaching strut, and locks. Full carbon sail inventory; furlers across the headsail suite (staysail and A2 excepted). The bowsprit extension adds area and light-air punch on a Class 40 sailing platform.
Hardware refreshed for control
Deck gear & handling
Complete hardware refresh including a powered pit winch and new deck gear throughout for clean evolutions under load. Expect tidy, repeatable hoists, reefs and gybes during Class 40 training blocks.
Serious tools for routing
Electronics & navigation
Modern electronics suite (~$150k) with two fully independent nav and autopilot systems, AIS, radar and satcomms, plus a canting nav station for safe work at speed. This is a serious decision-making environment for routing, power budgets and data-led debriefs.
Fast, reliable systems
Energy & systems
New Yanmar 3YM30 (shaft-drive) with low hours and two-blade folding prop; plumbing and pumps renewed. 600 L water-ballast system supports mode changes across breeze and sea state. Systems are laid out for quick checks and fault-finding offshore.
Safety practiced every day
Safety & comms
- Offshore safety kit onboard: including inflatable PFDs with integrated harness and Spinlock triple-clip tethers; structured safety briefs before departure
- Starlink-enabled boat phone: supports basic WhatsApp messaging (user pays).
Numbers that matter offshore
Dimensions & build data
- Verdier design; launched 2008 with extensive 2021/22 rebuild
- LOA ~15.1 m, beam 4.50 m, draft 3.10 m, displacement ~4,892 kg
- Composite hull/deck
- FR Nautisme/Carbon Developments (rebuild)

Additional Information
Above deck
A all-new carbon rig (approximately +1.5 m), longer boom, and a fixed carbon bowsprit lift the power range. A reaching strut and locks keep load paths tidy. The headsail suite runs on furlers (except A2) for clean changes. You’ll feel the extra gear downwind and the discipline required upwind and reaching. New Storm jib will be furled.
Handling is predictable when it counts
A powered pit winch and refreshed hardware keep evolutions orderly in a seaway, so you can focus on timing and trim rather than wrestling the boat. Below, a canting nav station pairs with a modern electronics package: two independent navigation and autopilot systems, AIS and radar, and satcomms for check-ins. The set-up supports proper routing decisions on passage and concise debriefs afterwards.
Power and systems are simple and robust
A low-hours Yanmar 3YM30 shaft-drive turns a folding prop; plumbing and pumps were renewed; the 750 L water-ballast system lets you shift modes as breeze and sea state change. You’ll learn to run a practical power budget, catch small issues early, and keep speed without shortcuts.
Safety is routine, not rhetoric
Expect structured briefs, equipment handling, and MOB practice before heading offshore. Inflatable PFDs with integrated harnesses and Spinlock triple-clip tethers are carried onboard; Starlink supports basic WhatsApp via the boat phone (user pays). With LOA ~15.1 m, beam 4.50 m and draft 3.10 m, this Class 40 sits in the sweet spot for training: big enough to demand discipline, light enough to broadcast every gain you earn at the helm. Numbers matter offshore, always.
